''The signs of human activity, the visual detritus of habitation or civilisation and the artefacts people gather to mark significant events or perform everyday tasks: these are the subjects of my prints. Whilst people themselves rarely feature in my work, the fact that they were once or are still in a place, leaving a mark, a wall painting or an object is what interests me. I want to create a sense of human presence and activity through these clues rather than necessarily depicting life itself'' Jenny Martin.

Jenny Martin studied Fine Art at Edinburgh University and Edinburgh College of Art between 1991 and 1996, before going on to study for an MFA Post-Graduate diploma in Painting at Edinburgh College of Art.

Jenny is a painter and printmaker and exhibits regularly throughout the UK and overseas. She has won many awards in both disciplines, including the Aspect Prize for Painting, the Russell Trust Award, the James Torrance Memorial Prize and the Fenton Arts Trust award for her prints. She has work in many private collections both in the UK and abroad, and is represented in several public collections, including the Royal Bank of Scotland, the University of Wales, Edinburgh College of Art and the Royal Scottish Academy. She currently lives in Edinburgh and works as a lecturer at Leith School of Art.
