The conventional representation of sunny Spain is challenged in this image. The houses are depicted in cool colours and the viewers eye is led towards the sun and the bell tower, highlighted by their warm colours.

Ann demonstrates her skill as a technician of colour through her works in both watercolour and oil, often on a large scale. Her subjects are varied, ranging from town and landscapes to sumptuous church interiors, from still lifes to sun-drenched Mediterranean views.

Born in London in 1956, Ann Oram grew up in the Scottish Highlands. She studied and later lectured at Edinburgh College of Art, where she was inspired by her tutors, amongst whom were Anne Redpath and Sir Robin Philipson.

During her career, Ann has won many artistic awards, including The Andrew Grant Travelling Scholarship 1981, The Largo Award 1981, The Andrew Grant Major Award 1981, and, most recently, The May Marshall Brown Award from the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Water-colour. She has exhibited at the Royal Academy and is an elected member of the RSW. She has exhibited in major solo and group shows throughout the UK and her work is held in numerous collections worldwide. Ann has completed several major commissions for corporate clients including Royal Bank of Scotland and Standard Life.
