Jill Ashforth has a strong connection to Edinburgh where she was born in 1964. She is a graduate of Edinburgh College of Art, working since 1988 as a Primary School teacher with a studio in Stockbridge. Her influences include the Abstract Expressionists Jon Schueler, Richard Diebenkorn and Mark Rothko. She is known for her abstract paintings, Scottish landscapes, still lives, and portraits of fictional women. In her artwork she uses watercolour, oils, mixed media and photography; sometimes incorporating her own poetry. Her work is held in private collections and she has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Scotland, the U.S.A. and Spain.

Art in Healthcare is truly committed to the important role that art plays in the healing environment but we need your help to properly maintain and build this unique Collection for the enjoyment and benefit of the hundreds of thousands of staff, patients and visitors who view it each year.
