'Atlantic Wave III' is part of a series of small-scale works in oil inspired by notations and sketches made at the Bay of Clachtoll near Lochinver. Audrey says of this work "The energy, movement and ever- changing colours of the waves in the bay fascinated me during some very stormy weather coming in from the Atlantic. The main challenge in making this painting was to give the sense and scale of big wave energy on a small-scale surface."

The sea, wave energy and the movement of water are additional subject matter at the early stages of development in her practice.

Audrey's work mainly explores the human figure and the painted surface. They are mainly solitary and isolated figures and she is interested in the presence they evoke in an unspecified space. The figures grow out of a dialogue with the paint and are invented and imagined, not specific to an individual. Put simply, she makes figures out of oil paint and tries to allow the paint to be paint.

Audrey Grant is a visual based in Edinburgh, Scotland. She is a figurative painter working mainly in oils and exhibits regularly in Scotland, Leeds and London. Her work is held in private collections throughout the UK, France and Hong Kong. She is based at WASPS studios, Patriothall, Edinburgh.

In March 2013 she had her first major solo exhibition at the Union Gallery, Edinburgh to great critical acclaim.
