Stuart says of his work - "The fundamental aspect of my work is it's aesthetic value, this being the most important element in the equation of a quality work of art. A composition strong in concept but weak in aesthetic and technical ability cannot be considered a good work of art. A balance must be found between concept, technical ability and aesthetic value.

It is this balance which I hope to have achieved in work such as '41 Metal Flowers' and other related works.

My wrapped objects are purely symbols of the human condition - we evolve to suit our current surroundings. As our cities grow, we grow with them, developing to this point where our surroundings are worthless without its new editions.

It is this evolution which is dealt with in my work. I place a foreign element into a landscape or natural setting, then use the camera to evolve the originally absurd setting to a composition which is worthless without its new found elements. What has been photographed is true, it is real on an objective level, but also sits within the boundaries of the subjective as a falsified concept. The project of wrapped aluminium objects has noticeable similarities with Guy Debords' 'Spectacle'. The false is becoming true to create a new evolved reality."

Stuart Moodie graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, Dundee with a BA (Hons) in Printmaking and Photography in 1996. He has exhibited at Slade College of Art, London, Duncan of Jordanstone and the RSA Student's Exhibition in Edinburgh.
